SinoAlice players will lose everything if gacha’s ending deletes saves

Nier Automata director Yoko Taro strikes again with the end of gacha game SinoAlice. Like the end of his infamous console RPG, Taro will once again delete players’ save files to bolster his story.

SinoAlice loses everything

Revealed on the official game Twitter account, the latest story in SinoAlice will delete your account. No matter how much money you spent on the gacha game, completing it means removing everything.

Entering the final arc of the game will cause an inescapable end for you. Upon completion of that end, all will be lost and your account will no longer be usable.

“THIS IS YOUR LAST WARNING!” warns the Twitter account. “After erasing the entire last arc, an ending clip is played. Once that clip is over, you will be forcibly logged out. After that you can never again. log. I never. again. Please clean everything before setting foot. NieR fans will understand.”

The Twitter announcement further explained that the game’s library will be closed to anyone completing the game. This means that you cannot interact with the game’s systems.

“Once you reach the end, the library will be closed forever,” they said. “After this, there’s no turning back. Even if you want to help your friends clear the chapter, there’s no way to help directly. Everything’s gone when it’s over. Proceed with caution, and thank God.”

A good idea for a gacha?

All gacha games end and they will always take your paid items. Unfortunately, that’s exactly how the free-to-play market works. Yes, even CoD Mobile and Fire Emblem: Heroes will die one day.

However, deliberately deleting accounts for the sake of story is new. While some may be outraged, we think it’s a pretty cool idea. Admittedly, we didn’t spend hundreds, if not thousands, on in-game gacha pulls.

SinoAlice gacha pulls recorded characters from NieR Automata and Drakengard 3, and like the former, your save file is a tribute to completion. It offers a sense of finality, and this way at least you can end your gacha journey whenever you want.
