Get out of the wubwub, a new Mortal Kombat game is coming straight to mobile! After the success of the still-updated MK fighter mobile, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught is coming exclusively to phones.
What is Mortal Kombat: Onslaught?
Announced by series developer NetherRealmMortal Kombat: Onslaught is a free-to-play MK RPG designed for phones. Developed by the fighting game developer, this new spin-off is described as a “team-based collection RPG”.
In the game, you collect and build a team of the most iconic fighters in the franchise. Then send your team into real-time battles against hordes of enemies in brutal, bloody combat… or kombat?
The game’s official promotional art features a number of classic characters. For example, Scorpion and Sub-Zero are – of course – present. However, Raiden, Kitana, Shao Khan, Shinnok and Quan Chi.
Warner Bros. Games president David Haddad claimed the game will “stay true to its entrenched nature”. This means we can expect all the bloody fatalities and gruesome combat in the console games.
“With Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, we have reinvented Mortal Kombat into a strategic team-based collection RPG with fast-paced group melee combat that new and existing fans can enjoy,” explains Haddad.

When will it be released?
There is currently no concrete release date for Mortal Kombat: Onslaught. However, the title is slated to come out sometime next year. So we can expect to play the new MK game on mobile in 2023.
Despite this, the traditional Mortal Kombat fighting game will still be played on mobile. With more than 150 million installs over its lifetime, there are no plans to discontinue support for the portable fighter. However, there are also no plans for large-scale improvements.
MK on mobile is in a pretty good spot. With Onslaught, the franchise not only continues on phones, but is also a mainstay. As for us, we are very excited.
